|As I have mentioned before, UPSAC has struggled the last few years in regard to money. In response, we stopped all activities last winter and have been on a hiatus of sort while considering our future.
We did however vote to complete two of our kids fishing derbies that were agreed upon prior to last winter.
The first is the derby at the Marin Rod and Gun Club scheduled for Saturday, August 19, 2017. Luckily the main costs associated with the derbies—insurance, tackle, bait, and food are handled by the club so there is little cost involved for that derby. We could use volunteers to help set up the tackle prior to the derby and to help judge the event. Further details will be forthcoming.
However, there are costs involved with the Trinidad Derby that is scheduled for Sunday, September 17. UPSAC needs to raise approximately $250-$300 dollars for the derby.
If anyone can help with a donation it will be much appreciated. Unfortunately, we lost our UPSAC website where donations normally would be made. However, if you go to the front page of PFIC and click on “Own the Book” that will take you to a PayPal account where you can make a donation. Specify that it is a donation for UPSAC and I will make sure the money is deposited into the UPSAC account.
As for the long-range plans of UPSAC, we are trying to decide what to do including drafting a new mission statement and By-Laws. It’s time we got some fresh ideas and fresh blood and though I would like to continue in some capacity, it’s time the group had a new leader. I’d appreciate any of your ideas.
