Yeah I've been eyeing Saturday as well because the break in the swell. One thing to consider though is that it's just that-- a break-- between some fairly turbulent weather, and that the dungies still might be hanging out in deeper water considering it'll kick off again later Sunday through Tuesday, which is a bummer since Monday and Tuesday have solid weak tidal currents and low tide is in the morning so you're not carving out your whole day. Swell could still be manageable on those days but with the rain I'd be surprised. Wednesday and Thursday however have the potential to be good days too.

As for China Beach, I'd drive there and take a look out at the water from the parking lot. If you see a few buoys out there, at least you know other people feel confident that the day could be productive there, if not, I'd pass and head to Baker.

The swell looks like it'll be up around 6ft tomorrow so definitely bring something heavy enough to keep it down on the bottom along with the typical strong easterly current out at China Beach (if you go there).

Also, if you can squeeze in time when it's not supposed to be raining, Sunday through Thursday has got a lot of potential for good crabbing. Lighter wind, much weaker current, and the swell looks to be nearly half that of tomorrow at least through Tuesday. It can all change quickly however, but I think I'll be paying Baker a visit either Sunday or Monday morning.

Went out for about 1 hr
Only had one snare that was able to hold
No keepers got about 6 small
Left when i snapped my snare
Was still a good day out

I didn't fare much better Sunday or Monday. Sunday I snared the 2hrs prior to low, and an hour after, and I only pulled in two keepers but they were the only ones I pulled in all morning. No shorties at all.

Monday, hoo boy... Monday served up the freshest, most exquisite grass fed, free range, GMO free skunk that I've experienced in quite some time. Snared 8:30AM - 1PM with nothing, not even a shorty-- and I moved all over that beach. Then I packed it in and headed home to switch gear and fish the two hours till top of the tide out at Ocean Beach-- again moving around-- without even a nibble.

Relaxing day but not the outcome I had hoped for.
