My health. The odors on board make me sick all the time.

One of the reasons I concentrated on pier fishing was that I would get sick almost every time I would go out on a boat (especially if headed out to the Farallon Islands). What was especially bad for a long time were the diesel fumes that most boats seemed to put out.

Luckily the ear patch has made it possible for me to now go out without getting seasick and most boats don't seem to have the same problem with diesel fumes that they once did. I haven't been out on a boat in SD for several years but I am assuming the diesel fume problems have lessened.

I'm generally now able to go out but I've never dared a long range trip simply because I didn't want to chance being seasick for multiple days.
