I feel your pain. I was there from 2:30-9:30 for one lonely perch that hit around 9:00pm on my hi/lo rig. I fished near the 3rd sink. SSC was there until around 8:30 and Red fish was there for a little while as well. They both did better than I, SSC with 2 keepers and a short and red with a short. Still nice to be out and fishing with friends. Didnt even hook into any rays, so that must mean the MMD is sonn Smile.................

Hey piemel, I'm sure you had fun regardless fish or
no fish as long as with good fishing budies. I have
gone out there in Berkeley pier now for three Saturdays in a row eight hours every outing. I still
don't have my first halibut for 2008. Good luck next
time.

i was there towards the end of the pier, i believe he hooked up a small ray
during this climb if i'm not mistaken. i caught this 24" hali around 11:00am
i got lucky again, so far this year six trips at berkeley with 3 butts and 1 striper to show for.

correction, looking at the picture closely, this is a picture of the older brother,
the earlier climb i witnessed was by the younger brother who hooked a small
ray, my bad...

i was talking to the older brother (with the ski bib) upon his arrival while
i was packing up my gear, he then took my old spot around 1:30ish.

i met soundgood out there at 6:30 to buy chovies. i didnt get squat all day. a pair behind me had two halis and 1 real fat striper (but it came off their clinkity clink metal stringer), another guy not too far from me had two halis.

i stopped fishing around 3 and took a walk. met a nice guy at the beginning of the pier with a cast net, and proceeded to practice throwing it. didn't get any bait though. but some other people did get a bunch of shiners/smelt.

I don't know what time the live bait shop is open but the earliest we have gotten our bait was at 6:00 am. I'm sure the bait station is open earlier than that, I do know that it closes at 11:00am hope this helps.

I think it's 5am-9am weekdays (could be 6-9 not sure, I don't go that early), 5am-11am weekends. $15 for a pier scoop.

I was out Saturday, got one hali about 10:00 and another about 11:30. After that, I got one shaker during the afternoon and nada for the rest of the day. My butts were cookie cutter 23"ers.
Saw one guy hook up just as he was about to reel in to leave around 8:30 pm. Quite a fight as he was using a little trout setup. When they went to net it the butt took a dive and snapped his rod in half. Fortunately, the line didn't break and they got it in... 33" fat butt.
