I'm looking for a penn/shimano reel that's about 4000. Any other recommendations for brands of reel would be cool too!

I got a Penn Fierce FRC8000 and a Penn Spinfisher 940.
Both have held up well crab snaring which is known to break reels.
I'm positive both would handle MONSTER fish as well.

Sorry for not being specific enough, was looking for a reel for perching/stripers unless those work for the type of fishing I'm doing! I actually need a crabbing rod so any recommendations for that? At big 5 they sell 8'6" ugly stiks that's heavy power idk if that would work fine.

8'6" is kinda short for surf crabbin.
It would be ok from a pier or maybe a jetty.
For the beach, use a 12'.
Sports Authority has some nice ones for less than $50.

Already have that one lol. Sorry forgot to tell you guys that too. I was looking into the battle but idk yet. My clarus broke today cause I used it for rockfishing at HMB... pretty sad now. Any of you guys know if I can send it in for the warranty since it hasn't been a year yet? I don't have the receipt from Hi's Tackle Box though so I'm not sure what I should do.

I think the heavy weight ugly stick would be a little overkill for perch... would you even notice if you had a bite?

Don't know about for striper... never fished for them so don't know how hard to detect bite from them...
