|The day was Sunday last weekend during an incoming tide at the rockwall in Alameda. I was maybe a quarter of the way out and fishing on the left side (left when facing the end). It was my first time there.
I switched between anchovies and squid on a sliding sinker rig, 5/0 octopus on a 60lb test steel leader and 6oz of weight. I only got a single bite about an hour before the top of the tide that day that turned out to be a 3~4 foot sevengill. It took an anchovy/squid combo. Healthy fish, released.
A friend of mine tried for smelt with a bobber but didn't get a single takedown on cut up anchovies.
