Spent a couple of hours on the Goleta pier yesterday morning with a buddy. Nothing. No bait in the water. Nothing. One other fisherman on the pier, also catching nothing as far as I could see. Is it a little late in the year for no sign of fish or is it just me?

Yes, cold-water La Nina conditions persist along much of the coast. Last time we saw these conditions it remained slow much of the year. BUT, there are sporadic runs of fish.
