I've never seen anyone land those on the pier. I think it would've been easier to swing the crab net back and forth, drop it further out and let the net run back under the fish instead of trying to pull the fish into the net. I have seen many fish lost this way. I have lost fish this way with someone else manning the net. Now, I net all my own catches, one hand on the crab net line and one hand on my rod. That was a very nice fish.
P.S. Tell that guy not to feel too bad about his ripped net (that was pretty funny, by the way, because the net looked like it was made of 5 lb. mono). My cast net got snagged today. |
Pretty cool, the kids were stoked. What a nice day out there. I agree with the nettin though, that guy had a real flimsy net and I've lost one of my nicest halibut in the same situation. I still give my friend a tough time to this day.
