went out there last night. Not a single bite.

Waiting for the weather to get warmer and the baitballs to flow in

That is the key for SC, the bait is coming in, and halibut #'s are improving, should make my first trip in the next month.

I'm going out to fish SC wharf tomorrow, will post a report. Heard from a guy at Hi's tackle that there are baby squid+smelt around.

I've read old posts from members who have dived SC Wharf talking about the surprisingly large numbers of fish under it. Why is it so hard for an angler to get bit there?

I didn't this time around.

I've never had any luck there and I've lost a dozen rigs and even my crab ring in those wells so I tend to avoid them

Santa Cruz is like that..... Still, even if you dont catch a single fish, the whole town has a great "vibe".

I have done well in the past near the life guard office, but like others have said, bait was thick.

Went out yesterday for a couple of hours right after high tide. Caught one 4 inch baby squid (promptly bit in half when used as bait) and a few sanddabs. Baits not *quite* in yet at SC for it to be good.
