Hey I was wondering if there was some thing we could do to identify other PFIC members. When I'm out fishing I usually try to bring up the subject of PFIC so I can see if any of the people I'm fishing with are PFIC members. And by identifying other members I mean like putting something on your fishing rod or something like that. It would be cool if you could just tell if someone else was a PFIC member without even asking them. By the way if there is already some method of identifying PFIC members that I just don't know about please tell me haha. Anyways if you like this idea please leave some suggestions of how to identify PFIC members just by looking at them. Sorry if everyone just thinks this is a stupid idea, just thought it would be kinda cool.

Thanks!...pierfisher007

Ya there is a way to tell, it's sort of a secret handshake. When you meet someone fishing and you think it's a PFIC member, ball your hand into a fist, place it on top of your head and wave your fingers at them. Don't stop until they do it back to you. That, is the PFIC secret signal.

I am laughing too hard...I am trying to do this, but I can't control myself. How do you ball your hand into a fist AND wave your fingers?

Can you tell me, or do I lack the minimum number of posts to be eligible to know the secret handshake?

Thanks for the chuckle.

I'm sorry newbies for not clarifying, I meant ball your fist THEN wave. Remember, you have to keep waving until they wave back. If you stop then you are breaking PFIC code. For more info on PFIC code read the sticky titled, "Utilitarianism."

{{{getting impatient at such inadequate instructions}}}

Look, make it simple--can't you please post a youtube video demonstrating the secret handshake?

or just clarify: when I am waving, do I remove my hand from the top of my head? I get the keep waving until they wave back part.

Thanks.

I can imagine what he's talking about. I feel like I've seen it in a goofy movie before. It's when you put your hand on top of your head and do this funky wiggle of your fingers...

hope this helps..

You could also try wearing a PFIC hat, t-shirt, sweat shirt, etc.

BTW, I got this CafePress blurb in the mail. Supposedly 30% off orders for Mothers Day USING THIS CODE. Might try it for the PFIC merchandise.

One sure way is to drop Ken Jones' name into the conversation or ask if they post on a fishing board. At the very least it will introduce them to a resource they may not have been aware of.

Ok, I just wrote PFIC on a sticky note and taped it to my tackle box, so if anyone see's a tackle box with a PFIC sticky on it, it's mine.

Bigun and I were on the same party boat last year and I didn't know it until he later posted his experience about almost missing the boat coming from Twain Harte and it rang a bell.. Over many years I have met other board members. I remember meeting Mr. Ken Jones at that meeting to
consider saving the San Mateo Pier. Mel, Rita, ark, and I believe Salty Nick were also there. I met and recognized Minnow Magnet and his dad while fishing at
Fort Baker Pier when MM was a very young boy, I used to see his pics on the board. While wearing the original white with black bill PFIC hat I met Songslinger at Fort Baker jetty and he happened to be wearing the same hat. I also met another
member while in Benicia combat fishing for salmon, I can't recall his board name but he recognized the PFIC hat and we talked. Last year Rock Hopper saw me at
an Alan Tani reel service seminar in San Rafael wearing the PFIC t shirt. I also met an old board member while on a salmon boat called Wacky Jackie who posted here
in the past as BCooney and while talking to him PFIC came up and I told him I used to post under the old board as urge2fish and he recalled that name as I recalled his. I've met Boyd Grant (Pierhead) while visiting Goleta Pier and talked to him as I felt he looked like a regular there, I later realized that he was pierhead but I didn't know it until I read more posts from him, after an inquiry
he did remember our chance encounter. While on Berkeley Pier not too long ago
I saw Mel again and he was fishing with Spicy Tuna and Norcal Rat. So PFIC members are out there wether we know it or not, wearing the hat and t shirt
did identify me more than once.
