Redondo Muni. Pier. 4/14

Met Burger at the Redondo Sportfishing pier.
He was fishing from the rocks when I arrived with my wife to the pier. He kept on fishing while we had breakfast. He did not hook any fish.

After breakfast my wife went for her walk and Burger and I drove to the Redondo Municipal pier.

They are doing a major remodeling at the pier. A lot of the flooring is gone and is planned to be replaced.

It was very windy and chilly. We changed locations several times. We finally stayed by the bait shop to have the building as a wind block.

Mackerel and sardine were the fish of the day, though it was sporadic. We fished for about 6 hours.

Interesting pier carts.

Redondo Sportfishing Pier. 4/15

I was feeling little under weather, so I was resting at home.
Then I get a text from RedKorn…..BONITO..

I called him, and it seems Burger and RedKorn are at the Sportfishing pier and catching fish. The bonito was sighted, but not hooked.

Immediately I felt better, and since I was to be alone at home, I headed to the pier.

Basically Burger caught a lot of mackerel and sardines, Redkorn a lot of sardines and some mackerel.

I caught some mackerel, but mostly made casts for bonito with various lures. No dice on bonito.

Weather was wonderful; company was great, lots of laughter and joking around. Plans were made for the next Tow Harbor trip and fish were caught.

What more could we have asked for, besides a bonito?

Oh Well, there is always a next time….I hope.

The End.

During the Saturday outing, the waves were too much for most people fishing with less than adequate size sinkers.

Many cross over tangles, so I did not bother using the second (heavier) rod. Even the Halibut hunters, were not trying for the fish.

On Sunday, at the Sportfishing pier; inside of the harbor, the waves were ok, so I tried the second rod for no bites.

We don't talk about fish that do not make it up on the pier, lol.

Thanks for posting the report Mahigeer. I am set for bait for the rest of the year after yesterday. The other half of the sardines I am bringing in to work for my co-workers, they love any type of fish I bring in. I'll add some pics later today. It was a thin slice of heaven to fish with you fellas as always.

John,

I did not want to remind you of that sad incident.

Now that you mentioned it; Redkorn "farmed" the biggest mackerel that I have seen.

He lost it just as it was getting out of the water with one hella of a head shake.

I also forgot to mention that Burger caught some nice yellow crabs and medium size spider crab.

He kept the yellows.

Bon Appetit.

LOL I'm not upset about it...it was funny as hell.

I was joking around with the guys about my lazy fishing tacts

Step one...6/0 circle hook.
Step two...Lots of squid.
Step three...6oz of weight
Step four...Cast and tie down rod with draw on medium
Step five...Sit back and let your friend tell you your rod is dance and jumping and pulling.

Big Bait + Hook = Big fish =P

If you build it they will come...LOL

So with a large hook and 6oz of weight it was very very large and powerful...Lager then any mack you could ever buy.

It could have been a state record...

I thought it was bonie but Mahi told me it was a Mack. I'll take whatever the sea is will to give me =)

I don't know about Shamoo, but it really was a big one.

We all said bonito, which would not have been that big of a deal for its size. Thus, until it surfaced we did not think much of it.

However, when it came to the surface and turned on its side it did not have the blue lines. Mostly white and some green.

Burger and I both saw it and concurred that it was a mackerel.

John knows what he was using, but the hook did not seem extremely big.

We could have used the GoPro for that fish.

Scout's honor. No joke.
