I was fishin the cen coast with my brother. Took him to one of my ling spOts that i havent been in sometime. Hour n a half in were only catchin small blues on our prech rods. Although, i was able to land two 13ish inch striped perch by the end. After tiring of catching the smallies. I switched to my 10' ugly with my new penn battle 6k that ive been dyin to break in properly. Then the impossible happened. We were Able to see several lings cruisin around! Polarized shades = $$$$. It Was very unexpected yet we jumped on the oppurtunity, naturally Wink we were SIGHT fishing lings and i had live blues at my disposal. Glorious. I ended up throwin 4 blues out total. Hooked up on two of em. First ling was in the 12-14lb bracket if i had to guess. He eneded up rockin me up and gOt unbuttoned while i was trying to unsnag my gear. Threw another blue out n ended up hookin up on a blue ling Which gave me a very intense 1 minute fight lol.. We were hookin up On short casts. The ling was probably 28"ish, and 7-8lbish. During all this my brother was throwin a berkeley livebait eel on a texas rig. Got a few lings to take a look but no takers. I then later hooked up on a another red ling about 25-26". We then called It a day. Per it tee awesome. Thought u guys might enjoy hearing this is possible. Fishing is legendary

Legendary indeed, da original ling hunter! Told you a live RF callin' for a home run threat... An awesome fight, I'm sure.

Back to back ling limits, Ryan! ACES! Big congrats! That's just awesome, little bro!!!

Sin Coast and I were limited to 3 cabie limit and a single ling last week... sigh...

Now, send the pix out to Tad in Tokyo to torture him once more... Your first ling limit is just legendary, Mbay... when I saw the pix on my phone, I was like... "You did what, again?"... Oh, Ryan...

I'm coming down next week... Razz

Sounds Epic, reminds me of some times at the Rock where the warm power plant water would pump out at... What no piqs to show, to back up your story? I grew up around there and my fishin buddy and i used to fish under all the piers and restaurants in the bay, well anyways we soon started noticing big lings cruisin in the clear waters here and there.. well after using live bait at the right places and times we discoverd they had there own territory's and patroled them regulary when would catch the same ones at certain spots(we were catch and release), and some times bigger lings would move in on smaller ones it seemed... Well it was good times, tell this greedy A-hole spied on us, used our tactics and then systematically caught and kept most of the lings we had been watching and catching and within a couple weeks they were scarce and i dont think the population recovered and its been years since ive seen any Lings "down under" but i havent been regularly fishing those area's anymore it was easier younger and shorter creeping under them docks... "fish for thought"

You truly are a master ling hunter, man. Doesn't matter where you are, you get them! Even at the get together at LP, you bagged one. Lol!
I've done some sightfishing for RF before, but never for lings.
Awesome!

SKOR!!! Right-on lil-Bro, my wife's favorite fish is Ling, especially the Emerald ones, she just loves how the green flesh turns white! First time I got one she thought something was wrong with it, oh no I said, it cooks up white and is the best eating! AND SHE BELIEVED ME! Now thats all she ever talks about every time I go rock fishin...mutt.

Wow! Sight fishing for lings - awesome! Were they cruising near the surface, or were they deep & the glasses helped you spot them?

Salty.

pete- yeah two ling limits in 2 weeks. im pretty stoked. the first 2 went quick. we fed 7 people that very night. panko breaded and baked. wasnt my favorite but still good. but even though the next 2 lings were smaller, much more fight. hookin up 7-8 feet out in probably 10-12 ft of water off live bait, standing on slippery and jagged rocks with sneaker waves to watch out for. that was intense.

and yea salty it wasnt too deep, but the polarized shades did help out big time. actually, i guess 10-12 ft is pretty deep now that i think about it.

and i just recently tried some rockfish sashimi off two BnY's i caught. damn its good!
