Found serenity and even a trout in the Sierra Foothills on Hwy 4 past Angel's Camp in Arnold, Ca and the surrounding areas. Mostly mountain biked and hiked in the Calaveras Big Trees area and Bear Valley (known for the ski resort). Nothing but big pines trees, giant sequoias, redwoods and fresh-air with a couple streams and lakes thrown in for good measure. Not much action, but I did get one nice pan-frier pictured below. Mountain trout are very wary Smile Fishing info is on the pic. Oh, add a split shot and a cheap size 8 bait-holder hook that I got at Ebbets Pass Sporting Goods.

Nice! We backpack into an area about an hour farther north of Arnold/CBT every year. It took us about twelve years to nail it down, but as long as they don't screw with the flows up at Lake Alpine we can pretty much get a hit every other cast. Dinner can be had usually in five minutes. Rainbows, goldens, and browns. I'll have to show it to you some time, Red. Location is a big secret.

Even the snakes do pretty well there.

hey that's alright red! hehe

I love it up there. It doesn't look like I'll make my pass trip this year. Easily my favorite sierra highway to go adventuring on. Thanks for sharing.
