Jordona Santiago of Martinez Bait & Tackle is reporting good sturgeon fishing over the last couple of weeks. Only a few striper reported. Hot spots for sturgeon range from the Ozol pier and the Martinez pier on up through little cut and the mouth of Montezuma slough. Grass, ghost, pile and anchovie did well. Steve Burnett of Martinez caught a 57" and a 47" sturgeon at the Martinez pier on pile shrimp. (Two separate days). Trevor Rose of Walnut Creek caught and released a 68" sturgeon at bouy 4 on grass shrimp. Dana Larsen of Martinez caught a 60" sturgeon in the Little cut on a ghost/eel combo. John Mendoza of Stockton caught a 51" 7 gill in San Pablo on a sardine. Anthony Crifasi of Pittsburg caught a 63" sturgeon at the last row of ships (East end) on a grass/ghost/pile combo. Mike Giovannovi of Pittsburg caught and released a 49" sturgeon, kept a 53" sturgeon and wrangled two bat rays from! the Ma rtinez pier on grass shrimp and anchovie. Jim Kuntz of Napa caught a 65 3/4" sturgeon at the 1st row of ships on a grass/ghost combo. Terry Schwartz of Martinez caught and released a 72 and a 77" sturgeon in the Ozol area on a grass/ghost combo. Trevor Schwartz of Rodeo caught a 66" sturgeon in the Ozol on pile worm. Steve Durflinger of Pleasant Hill caught and released a 70.5" sturgeon at the mouth of Montezuma slough on a grass/ghost combo. Edd Raugh of Livermore caught a limit of striper with a 23 and 25" at the first row on anchovie. Denise Weaver of Bay Point caught a 27" striper from the Martinez shoreline on anchovie. Eight year old Sarah Mills won the "Martinez Parks and Recreation Kids Derby" for the third year in a row! She's place first for the most fish caught and or the biggest. This year was the biggest striper at a massive 13.5 ". All fish caught in the derby are released! . Congrats to Sarah.
