Does one induce a sleep like zone by chilling the crab BEFORE microwaving? And I don't know about you, but I kinda don't like the idea of microwaving a crab.

with bugs, you can just tail them, cut open the shell, pack it with butter, than microwave in a covered dish for 3-4 minutes
works great

"One person preferred the store-bought boiled crab and gave it first place."

I hope somebody fired that person Smile

In all seriousness, I wouldn't even think about trusting my crab to the microwave. It's only takes about 15 minutes to steam, so I can wait.

It depends on a lot on how you prefer crabs/lobsters. My dad loves eating the crab innards cooked and so I was taught to also. Therefore I don't shy away from just taking the whole live crab and tossing em right on the grill. I find medium heat is best, out of the flames. Don't overcook because they will get stringy and burn when all the juice as evaporated.

You can just grill em whole, then peel off the carapice and clean off the innards, or peel off the shell first and rinse then grill. If you peel the shell first, you have the option of basting with garlic butter.

If you ever get a chance, try asian style stir-fry crab. It's actually really easy to make once you watch someone, and tastes delish. I believe it's also called crab in special house sauce.

Hope that helps Smile
