does anyone know what size washers the okuma abf65 and abf30 reels use? I can't find it on the website. and i want to order washers (the washers are covered by about 6 screws in the spool and I can't find my calipers, anyway...too lazy, i guess).

also, with so many people here interested in upgrading their tackle, has anyone given any thought to making a standarized list of reel parts? i'm thinking that if you change out drags, bearings, etc on your reel, take a quick moment to jot down the specs of the part and post them up for others to follow. we can maybe keep it on a single thread and individuals can record them in their own spreadsheet if they want to. any value to this, or am i just making this too complicated?

I have the schematics for all of my Penn reels, but finding them for some of the other brands can be a nightmare.

measure out your drag washers and match them up to something here. if you're in the san jose area, swing by the house sometime and i'll take a look for you. here's an old post of penn drag washer dimensions. alan

Quote:
here is a list of the 25 smaller drag ht-100 drag washers that penn makes. the washers are listed by part #, followed by price as listed in pennparts.com as of this date (2/13/05), followed by the inner diameter in millimeters, the outer diameter in millimeters and the thickness in millimeters. what follows after that is a listing of the common reels that use this drag washer.

i did a single measurement for the inner diameter if round or a minimum and a maximum if the inside hole was hexagonal in shape. i did a single measurement of the outer diameter, not including the "keys" if the drag washer was keyed. "keyed" washers are so noted. i also did a single measurement of the thickness.

you may measure the stock drag washers in your reel, compare the dimensions (don't forget to account for thickness) and order drag washers accordingly. your local shop should be able to obtain the washers for you.

thanks Alan. I was thinking along the lines of a list of washers for the "other" brands.

anyone else think we need a "paging Alan Tani" skylight sign akin to the bat-sign?
