No points for Bat Rays? Under 48" and then over 48". I think that is unpatriotic. Especially since it is the biggest fish that will be caught. Man,and I was just now thinking of going to it and dragging Kurt along with me to keep Jed company. I think only one hook per rod allowed will make it interesting as well.
BRD, it's a travesty the bat ray isn't considered our official state marine fish. Wink So we'll see you and your friend there?

It looks goood for me to be able to go. I wonder if anybody will bring a net to see if it can handle a 4ft wide ray weighing 80lbs or so. I won't bring my two piers gaffs because I don't use them anymore since I fish exclusively at the dock. The Jacksmelt King (Kurt) says he can go as well.

Spent the morning visiting sponsors and picking up the raffle prizes. Vouchers for bait from Paul's, Okuma combos from Wylie's, vouchers for 1/2-day or twilight trips from MDR Sportfishing, lures from Big Hammer, subscriptions to PCS magazine, and more! Just wanna say that even with the down economy, these guys are willing to step up for us. Just $10 will get you an equal shot at all these prizes and 100% of the proceeds go towards UPSAC's programs.

I'll be doing a little prefishing from the kayak on Sunday... hope to have a report on what's lurking in the harbor!

Guys, I spent some time out a Cabrillo today and caught plenty of white croakers, big topsmelt, macs, a short hali, and a small bat ray, all caught on ghost shrimp from Paul's. No on-the-water pics because my camera fell into my bait tank. :/ Other kayakers caught calicos, rockfish, a sculpin, and plenty of legal halis--all inside the harbor.

Stopped by the pier afterward to hand out flyers for the derby. Saw a nice 26" hali and a bucketful of bonita.

Word of advice: get there early next Saturday. If it's anything like today, it's gonna be full. Also, many of the locals said they'd be interested in the derby... it's gonna be interesting to see how PFIC'rs fare against them!

We may have to put a limit on how many Non-PFIC'rs can attend. It may be to hard for one judge.

I need to get more stickers!!

Our flyer that we put up in tackle shops and handed out. A couple of those pics are from Avila where Ross hooked up on the angel shark. I hope to update the pics from the derbies each month.

Hey guys, looking forward to seeing you there! Just a quick note on parking... I think it costs $1/hour up to a maximum of $9. For those of you not familiar with the area, there are 2 parking lots. You'll see the entrance to it within the roundabout.
