I am going to be in Monterey next week for a meeting and I hope to shoot over to the CG Pier for a little fishing. I will try to get some clarification while I am there.

Hey Ken, drop me a line if you want some company at the jetty or wharf.

The updated article is great. Very informative and helpful. But yeah, I'd omit the quote by AA. Not because it may be offensive, but because it's just downright misleading--the changing area/showers is away from the jetty so you'd need binocs to spy on the gals who are peeling off their wetsuits...and even then...they aren't usually much to look at hahaha.

Now... if it was a super model dive class spot... you might want to keep that line in there! and I could get a job charging $10 rent for a 5 minute use of the binoculars.... hehe.. Just kidding. I agree the quote is not needed. Although it did make me laugh.

Great info about the spot.. look forward to your update after you return from Monterey.

That sounds like the place to me. I fish there about twice a week. Sometimes just on my lunch break. Most of the fish there are small, except for the striped perch, although I saw a keeper ling taken on a whole frozen sardine just after the opener this year. I have never had a problem with divers at all. Most of the time they are farther out than the fish. The main problem is too many sea lions, which can cause an awfull stench, thick mats of kelp, strong afternoon winds, and too many tourists. Great review.
Good Luck!

Most people cast between the kelp and the rocks. There are a lot of perch but not too many lingcod
