I am looking into getting a new reel and I wanted to ask if anyone here had any of my ideas.

- Okuma Aveon AE55 (Smooth and I can get a decent deal)

- Penn Sargus SG5000 (inexpensive)

-or-

- Quantum Boca BSP60PTs (Smooth)

I plan on putting the reel on a 8' St Croix Triumph surf rod. Maybe a Bimini Bay surf rod(my friend has one and its alright)

Any input in appreciated!!

I have a couple of the Quantum and they are a good all around spinner. I am not a fan of spinners, but my teenagers use these on their poles and I have to say they are very durable and cast well.

The Penn Sargus are nice, but they are the EXACT same real as the Pflueger(forget the model number), with a black paintjob and Penn stamp. Other than that, the only diff is the price. You can find the old Pfluegers for like 20bucks...nice reels though. The okumas are cheap. Quantum has some nice spinning reels, I'd stick with them.
