I'm looking for a new rod to put in the back of my sports car trunk - thus my usual favorite 8'6" rod won't fit. I'm out of the loop on what's new and improved but no pink and orange colored rods please.

my style is usually a 8'6" salmon steelhead rod with a fast tip. I use . 15lb mono. casting reel. any suggestions?

I am pleased with the Okuma Nomad Inshore travel rod I purchased last year. So far, it's performed really well. But it's only a 7 footer. I think Okuma has a line of travel surf rods that are similarly constructed. Might be worth looking into.

Phenix Red Eye. Fits the bill.

I got two daiwa ardito. One is a 7’6 casting, the other 7’ spinning. Both aren’t bad for plugging. The casting has more backbone due to the ratings but very comfortable to fish all day.
