Hit Capistrao Beach on Sat during the outgoing tide and an hour of incoming from 3 to 9:30. Was trying out some new rigs I tied up and was good to get on the sand after a week of work. There was a good Leopard Shark Bite that died once the sun finally went down. I was working three lines, just enough to keep me moving and warm, and tried a variety of baits including squid, mackerel, ray, and yellow tail. The Leopards like the squid, even with a 12/0 hook, but no takers on the other baits.

This beach has taken a beating the last month and not much sand left, mostly cobblestone.

That is one of the local beaches I have been meaning to try and get seven gills from. Seems like it should be a good location.

There is no limit when fishing from the beach on the coast.

There is a species specific gear/ take regulation, but no general one. You can fish as many lines as you can reasonably tend as long as you have a license and the area permits it. But, once you start targeting specific species or in certain special enforcement areas you have gear restrictions, i.e. Rockfish, salmon, lobster. If he lands any species that has gear/take restrictions, he must immediately return them to the water. Any incidental take of such species is illegal while not observing take/gear restrictions,

Two rods only freshwater and pier, licensed beach fishing I can put out as many as I want. Working three rods keeps you plenty busy if I used more I would be constantly tending to rods.

In freshwater a stamp is required for the second rod, but not in saltwater.

Some private piers and docks that require license, more than two rods can be used.

Rods are not allowed for lobster fishing.
