Could somebody recommend the smallest knot for splicing
50 lb Ppro and regular 16 lb Sunline?
Knot should be strong enough and easy flying through guides.
Thank you

FG knot. There is no thinner knot.

Thank you!
I know FG knot. IMHO it is little bit long and I'm not sure how it will pass guides.
Are you have some experience with that matter?
Thanks again.

You can either make your leader short enough that stays out of the tip guide before casting, or long enough that would not be in the casting range.

FG is nice if you have the time to tie it properly. I use a double or triple surgeons knot. Doesnt have the strength compared to the FG knot, but super easy and quick to tie in.

Slides right through like it is not even there. All I use. Once you get used to tying it, you can tie it in less than a minute.

Albright or crazy Alberto. Not nearly as strong as a fg knot, but it gets the job done with great results for a fraction of the time. I use it for everything with great success. Remember to always wet your line prior to tightening it. Good luck.

Thank you guys!
I've used Alberto knot.
I wish to use FG knot but IMHO it is doesn't fit in my case:
FG's knot idea is: thin braid making grooves in the thick mono when you pulling hard and in that case braid do not sliding along mono.
I have only 16 lb Sunline and 50 lb Ppro...

It mostly matters what you have confidence in tying. I tie the fg to 20 seagaur all the time.

Why not a double uni-knot and call it a day?
http://seaguar.com/applications/knot-guide/64-double-uni-knot.html
Should be thin enough in diameter to sail through the guides (don't know what kind of guides you have) but a drop of "superglue" on the knot goes a long way for "slickness".

I have used both, both are good knots. The fg knot is literally half the thickness of the uni and and casts through the guides far better. If you are just using a short 1 to 4 foot leader go ahead and use the uni. Quicker and easier. If you use a leader longer than you can cast its your choice. I have spent the last 3 seasons casting poppers, colt snipers, and flat fall jigs at bluefin. The uni goes through the guides but you can feel it hit guides periodically. I do not trust that to not weaken the knot.

Thank you guys again!
A lot of useful information.
My problem was next:
I've had some 50lb Ppro and when put it on the spool I encountered with fact that Ppro fill only 2/3 of spool and decided to add 16lb Sunline for striper and salmon fishing. Hope it will work.
