On the news last nite.

http://www.ksby.com/story/36177103/more-and-more-people-taking-clams-from-pismo-beach

Story is a bit off. Pictured are bean clams, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donax_(bivalve]
Legal to take with CA fishing license...according to CA fishing regulation should be no limit on quantity and size.

I got some friends ticketed for over the limit (they have licenses) when the game warden said the limit is 35 under Section: INVERTEBRATES
29.05. General, whereas under Section: 29.20. Clams General, states differently.

What do you think?

Really depends on what clams you are targeting.

Read the regs specifically section 29.20-29.71

Each clam species has different limit takes depending where you get them. I don't see a 35 count limit for any of them.

My friends were ticketed under:
INVERTEBRATES
29.05. General.
(a) Except as provided in this article there are
no closed seasons, closed hours or minimum
size limits for any invertebrate. The bag limit
on all invertebrates for which the take is
authorized and for which there is not a bag
limit otherwise established in this article is
35. In San Francisco and San Pablo bays and
saltwater tributaries east of the Golden Gate
Bridge invertebrates may not be taken at night
except from the shore.

But under:

29.20. Clams General.
(a) Except as provided in this article, there are
no closed seasons, bag limits or size limits on
saltwater clams.

The clams in question are bean clam (Donax) and are not specficly mentioned in regs 29.20-29.71

I see. They're in the general section.
Well, there's really no argument for being caught over the limit.

Which takes precedence, section 29.05 or 29.20?
