Thanks, grammar. Although I have caught Sevengill Sharks before, I chose not to include them in my "life-list," simply because my personal lifelist rules did not allow them to count as a catch.
To make a long story short, I only count species that I have caught via rod and reel in a fair hooked fashion and that have a clear and representative photograph. Before 7 years ago, I had a somewhat poor camera that resulted in blurry photos of fish that I deemed unworthy of the lifelist gallery; thus, disqualification from inclusion. In fact, in lieu of reaching 1000 species, I went through my lifelist and removed quite a few species due to poor quality photographs or other technical aspects. Thus my current 1000 species were all caught within the last 7 years.
So in reality, the list of species actually hooked and landed by me throughout my entire life is a fair bit longer, but these extra species are not counted on my "official" count.
CPR: Catch, Picture, Release. Ensuring our sport lives on forever.
