Hello all, I have definitely not been on here very much since I left Santa Cruz. The last 10 months I have been stationed at Diego Garcia and before that, I was living, studying and fishing in Pensacola Florida. I have A LOT of fishing and posts to catch up with you all, but the bandwidth is so slow here I practically cant post my pics and videos. A few weeks ago, I took some leave and was able to enjoy some normal internet speed and I so happened to upload one of my videos of fishing here on island. Please, check it out!

On DGar, the marina allows us the rent out fishing boats for free for junior enlisted. This particular morning I was throwing a red-head Yozuri popper around the reef edges. This is in fact the largest GT, aka Giant Trevally, Ulua, Talakitok, Skip Jack that I have caught since Ive been here. She weighed just short of 50lbs. I've caught around half a dozen of these awesome fish since Ive been here, they hit like a car crash and fight hard. They arent the best to eat, in fact the smaller bluefin trevally is much tastier as sashimi, poke or grilled.

I have TONS more fish to show you guys, lots of stuff Ive never seen or heard of before, until theyre flipping on the end of my line. I'll be here for a few more months before Im back to a normal place with normal internet, so expect some bomb ... posts then!

Nice Ulluas! I was trying to catch some from shore on my one trip to Honolulu in '98. Never got to a good area and lost one papio on octopus.
That was enjoyable to see you fight them on spinning gear.
