Well I got a birding trip coming up...Yes I said birding and its an awsome hobbie.

I was thinking about doing alittle fishing along the way from and too an while birding. Its been a few years and I cant wait to get back to that area.

Issue is most of the maps I found are made for the park like a mall map. I'm looking for a mans map. Or one with a enough detail for me.

I dont think I'll be going pass silver if that helps.

Thanks in advance =)

And anyone you in the LA area should really give this place a try even just for nature hike. Its only about 120min dive from LA on a weekday.

Are you looking for topographic maps?

REI should have a good collection.

Hand held GPS, or even the car kind like Garmin may be helpful, though there is cost of the unit.

I'm a huge fan of the area. I love how good it smells up there.

Not sure what exactly you're looking for in a map but maybe one of these will fit your needs:

map 1

map 2

Topo

I loved the 1st map just needed alittle top-o But it does not show the area I need....Johnsondale will me my spring board into the area.

Most pretty much all the maps I keep finding are only showing the park not the forest.

Ah, you may not be able to find a free version that fits your needs. You’ll definitely have better results with paid options. REI should have you covered but if you’re a AAA member, they may be worth checking also.

If you have a smartphone, there are several topo apps available. They aren’t free, and some aren’t cheap, but they should be as full featured as a handheld GPS unit (breadcrumbs, waypoints, offline viewing, etc, etc). Speaking of offline viewing, Android’s version of Google Maps has the option to download regions of maps. I don’t believe iOS’s version has this feature but I could be wrong. Google’s maps may not offer what you are looking for but it’s better than nothing. Check it out.
