|Jan 1, breaking in my 2018 fishing license.
Late afternoon, -1.9 ft epic low tide at Pescadero Beach, southern parking lot (the end with rocks). Was warm and very calm (maybe 2-3 ft swells). T-shirt weather.
The beach looked a lot different than I remembered. I was climbing rocks that were usually submerged. It was pretty weird climbing a 6 foot high rock outcropping and finding the top paved with mussels. There was good footing on most of the rocks (lots of non-slip hair-type algae), so traveling was (relatively) easy.
I should have taken some pics, but didn't. But if you close your eyes and imagine a pail with 8 lbs of mussels, that's what I took home.
Tomorrow Tuesday Jan 2 4:35 pm tide will be even lower. Wednesday 5:35 pm will also be very low, but that's right at sunset (arrive at 4pm and you'll have plenty of time though).
