went out looking for leo's this morning in north SD county.
Perch was the bait. first hook up. 55" and a little chunky lol

second hookup... total screamer, peeling line like there's no tomorrow and goes airborn! broke off by the grey torpedo... 20lb line just isn't meant for soupies.

will have my heaver fixed by thursday though (broke a guide last week). so im excited. and hopefully these guys stay in the area.

oh, and perch are abundant. FYI

Nice lep man.. Those soupfins fight real nice and give your gear a good testing that's for sure.. I've noticed those things usually stick around for a couple days to weeks sometimes, so I'm sure you will get another shot at it..

Nice fish! The waters (in the SF Bay) are a little cold still close in and I think many of the sharks are holding yards out by the channel.

You sure it was a soupy? I'm sure there are some 7 Gill in the area too. Either way, good fishin.

ya, def a soupy, or a really big smooth hound. lol. leopards take to the air sometimes but they flop around and just look funny, this thing hit the surface and went straight up and then landed on its side, then jumped again and spun. once it landed again i felt a nice surge and the line broke. must have wrapped up and the tail cut me off.
