I went out from 10-5pm on the pier. I fished for Surf Perch in the surf area for 3 hours, no fish. I then went and joined other anglers in the mid-pier area. No fish at all. Nobody had caught anything. I tried shrimp, pile worms, and squid strips.

Well that's SC Wharf for ya. Probably one of the worst fishing piers in CA, well for fishing that is. Funny thing, I SCUBA dove it several times and there are lots of fish there.

Not even any kingfish or bullheads?...that pier is very fickle.

To catch fish, you have to be one with the fish. - old chinese proverb

We were there a couple of weeks ago and same story as always - no fish. We used squid. Other anglers we talked to also had no luck.

Nice views, good food, and a great time anyway.

I've heard SC wharf (and the nearby Capitola version) doesn't really become viable till the bait comes inshore. Then, the 'butts, etc come out of the woodwork.

Good to hear a report from you WC Dave. And Stinkyfingers - is this 2012? I'm having a flashback.

Better luck next time.

It's such a pleasure to see a lot of the old names still around. I think about you every time we go to Half Moon Bay, Salty. Be well, my friend.

Tourists who look at furbags eating fish make more money for the businesses and government than fisherman trying to catch and eat fish. Smile
