Been trying to get out with the little guy for a while, he just turned three... picked up some worms and did some old-fashioned bobber fishin' at City Park in New Orleans... We were rained out after only 30 minutes of fishing, just enough time to get the kids rigged, prepped and safe, with just enough time for my little dude to catch his 1st fish... Not bad either! The waterways are loaded with these Rio Grande Cichlids... this was a big male with the head bulge, and would have made a fine aquarium fish.

I'm proud of my little guy, and his sister the
official "worm-herder" in the background in the pic... they both have a lifetime of fishing ahead of them!

WTG-I put my nieces and nephew on bluegill for their first fish although I can tell they are not really hooked on fising...

The little man has been hounding me for several weeks... and he is surprisingly focused. It took him a few casts (which we have been practicing), but he actually has the patience to sit and watch the bobber without reeling, which is tough for a three year old! Ruby is apparently content to play with the worms, as she caught her first fishies about a year ago!

Nice specimen and would look real good in an aquarium. Looks like flowerhorn might be since flowerhorns are hybrid cichlids.

I feel you on this! My 3 yr old knows when I'm going hunting, and she is so smart "daddy go get me a turkey" haha. She saw a hen in the yard today and was enthralled by her.

It's great, wouldn't change it for the world. I'm looking forward to the bluegills this summer!

Great pic's!

Good job Scooter, with the fish and the kids.
