It's that time of year again folks.

May 19th,
6pm-midnight
Berkeley Pier

We will be having our annual Mud Marlin Derby.
Bring your family and friends and come out and join us.

This is a free event.
However, bring some $$ for raffle tickets, all proceeds benefit UPSAC.

We will be fishing for Big Bat Rays.
So bring your heavy gear, big bait and anything else you might need to catch and land a monster.

This is always a great event for PFIC and we always have a great turnout.
In the past we have had over 100 people turn out.

We will have the sign in table, and potluck set up at the 3rd sink. We will be fishing from the 3rd sink to the end of the pier (you are welcome to fish any part of the pier, however an official judge must be able to get to you quickly to record your catch in order for it to count.)

As usual we will have a potluck, and raffle.

There will be prizes for the winners, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

For the raffle any donations would be gratefully accepted. There will be a G-dude rod in the offering as well as some Sofa King Snares.

If you have raffle donations bring them or contact Sofa King or Illcatchanything2 to arrange a pickup.

This is a catch and release derby. We have a lot of new members this year, so just a reminder that gaffs ARE NOT ALLOWED, so bring your crab nets. If you wish to keep your catch you may, however it WILL NOT be counted toward your total for the prizes.

Remember Bat rays have "stingers near the base of their tails so be careful when handling them. If you do not know how to handle them ask somebody. Better safe than stuck.
Even though the rays average 30-60 lbs they can go in excess of 100+. Be prepared for a big one.

It tends to get windy at Berkeley Pier at night so dress warm.

If you wish to bring something for the potluck please do.

Ling king and I will have our usual fare for the grill, hot dogs.

We are hoping to get a shark for Illcatchanything2 to fry as it has become his tradition.

If you have shark you would like to donate you can contact either Illcatchanything2 or Sofa King and we will arrange for pick up. Any other fish is also welcomed for the fish fry.

I will bring a portable heater for near where I plan on fishing. I will also bring a Webber grill to share if you would like to cook or get warm.

Halibut are starting to show at the pier as well so if you like come early and maybe bag a butt before hand.

This is the event that got me started in PFIC.
It is one of the best chances to put names to the faces.
Even cold wet and rainy it is still quite a good time.

Below is a basic signup if you plan on attending and a potluck list.

Hope to see you all on the pier.

Copy and paste roll call/potluck sign ups.

Official rules, as well as safety guidelines/procedures will be posted soon, so watch this thread for more info.

1) Sofa King, Ling King. Hot dogs and condiments.
2) Illcatchanything2.- "World Famous" Smile, MMD Chili, Fried Shark, Coffee

His Lordship's or Skates on the Bay--this second one is right at the base of the pier, http://www.skatesonthebay.com/.

Just google map "Berkeley Marina". The street name is Seawall Drive (I think)

Does PFIC and UPSAC have your permission to use these images for our t-shirts?
Thanks.
