The moon controls the tide. Can be short (say 4 hours), or long (8 hours).The amount of water that moves during the tide cycle also varies greatly. There can be a long tide that only move 4 feet of water, and there can be a short tide that will move 7 feet of water. Just depends on the gravitational pull on any given day. As for Stripers, I have caught them at all tides in all conditions. If they are around, they will hit your bait. More like attack it ..
Check the tide predictions before & for the area where you are going to fish.
I use www.saltwatertides.com.
There are some other good ones as well. I tend to use this one because it works best on my tablet for whatever reason...
