Greetings and Salutations:

With all the anglers in the San Francisco Bay Area, I am somewhat surprised that there aren't any restaurants that will cook your fresh catch as part of your meal. Or are there and I just don't know which ones they are?

Does anybody know of any restaurants in the immediate San Francisco Bay Area?

If so, please advise? TY

Orient Express in San Ramon is happy to prepare my fish and crab. Salt and pepper crab or fish is dynamite.

The Sea Gull down 7th from the hospital cooked us a meal when I gave her a yard long ling that I'd caught at ft Baker (ofcourse she kept the rest of the fish) and every time we went in there afterwards she would always hit me up for more fish, but that was back in the early 90's...mutt.

OH, hell NO! I aint a gonna go traipsing into any restaurant so she can "keep the rest of the fish"--how much did she keep???????? That's not the kind of restaurant I mean, my brother, i mean a restaurant where i bring in MY fish, they cook MY fish and then I eat MY fish! and whatever I can't finish, the rest goes to MY house.

oh and I googled--early 90's--I don't think it's in business anymore--so YOUR fish is safe.

But thanks for trying to help.

Maybe if I asked the staff of any mom-and-pop restaurant to cook it for me?

Oh, and thanks for the help, My Couch Grouch.

i'm sure if you just ask next time you're at one of your favorite restaurants they would let you know. Moreover, i have seen that some of them expect something in return, if you do break a deal make sure that you cover that part. Usually in my experience, they charge a small fee to prep it so long as it's not completely frozen, cleaned or fileted properly.

Oh, that's a given; in Key West, Fl, I took a yellowjack to a sushi restaurant and the chef prepared a salad, a light soup, nigiri and sashimi out of it. I took a red snapper (in the days waaaaay before the ban)and another yellowjack to the Full Moon Saloon. The waitress came out and told me that no matter how hungry I was, we would never be able to eat it all--but would I like it all cooked anyway.

And yes, in all the restaurants, of course there is a charge--somewhere in between lowest and highest entree--which I consider more than fair enough. the restaurants served whatever sides came with the regular dishes on the regular menu.

But I think I will start asking at the restaurants.

I know you have done well having restaurants prepare your meals (You are the Flying Dutchman couple, yes?) but I just don't trust some unknown stranger to prepare my fish or game. 15 years in the restaurant business has made me more than a bit jaded and distrusting.

No, i think you are thinking of Frozen Dog. We are Mr. and Mrs. Couch Grouch--and we love two things: fishing and hating on each other. Wink

We were up in frisco, staying at a motel, my daughter was in surgery (9 1/2hrs) my wife stayed in the waiting room, I went across the bridge and fished in front of that Big rock away's from the pier. Thats where I nailed that huge Ling, I had no idea what to do with it, I put it on ice, and got back to UCSF, my daughter was still in surgery, so I hung out in the waiting room with the wife, when she came out we couldn't see her (she'd be out for the rest of the day) So I told Pat we'd go eat. We had been eating at the sea gull just about every day all week, when we showed up and I showed her that fish and told her I had no place to keep it she fixed us a complete family style dinner with all the trimmings for Nada (thats nothing) when I tryed to pay for dinner she acted offended that I'd even offer, I didn't feel slighted in the least, I hope that clears it up alittle for ya...mutt.

Aw, now that was nice of her--that's a completely different story, so thanks for clearing that up.
