My father in law recently passed away. He lived all his life in Poland and was a hardcore fisherman. My mother in law knowing that I just recently start fishing sent me most of his gear, so I now own few Bolognese type fishing rods. Those things are HUGE! 16' and 22' long rods, they seem to be "collapsible" or "travel" type rods, but I have no idea how to use them or how to cast them (can they be casted?). They seem to be all spinning rods and they are for very light line and weight lure. I was amazed at the huge size of the rods and the tiny little size 16-18 hooks and light line...but I do know he used to catch LOTS of fish with them...

Do you know anything about those type of rods? European fishing? Any info would be greatly appreciated

That sounds like a crappie setup on steroids! 22 FOOT??? thats one HELLUVA spey rod, man!

id love to see pics, if you could.

Ill look around for ya, or you know what.. my buddies old co-worker just moved here from poland not too long ago, and LOVES fishing. I bet he'd know in a second (minus the slight language barrier) Razz

Well heres the scoop on these rods....In that part of the world most of the areas are over fished. So someone came up with longer rods to get to them in the middle of the lake. You dont need reels for them. They are like poke poles up north. You use them with a bobber. light line. And you need a bench house to roll it all out while fising. You can find vids on youtube showing you how to use them.

That's what I thought also, because I'm afraid I may brake it if I try to cast it, but my wife said that this poles are to be cast. Longer 48" rods are not...I'm going to check those videos, thanks Redkorn

It gives me a better idea, but the Bolognese rods are different, they have spinning reels and all...
