Red, I do not fish a leader less than 275# and a 50 yard topshot of no less then 100# mono. I learned this year that shallow water sevengills are more prone to breaking you off than in deeper water. They'll slash through a 60# topshot like it's 20#, and I'm not talking about their teeth. Circle hooks have like a 90% mouth-hook percentage.
