First corbina this year

Haven't fished or posted in long, long while. Wife had severe stroke 3 years ago and as care giver I am just now able to leave her alone for a couple hours.

Fished Torrance beach south end this afternoon for an hour about an hour after the low tide. Plenty of crabs. 15 minutes in first corbina this year on a quarter size roe-laden soft shell and very close in. Good fight with three runs. 6 ft medium action ugly stik with small cheap cabela's spinning reel with 6# main and 4# x 20" leader and a #8 bait holder hook texas rigged with 3/4 oz slider.

Ten minutes later another good hit but lost it after the first run. Many cruising fish. Water is warming up. Season is on. Great day at the beach.
