The dark side...

Back in the day when I would visit the dark side — and do some fishing from boats. A couple of stripers I caught on August 12, 1977 while fishing on the Fisherman II out of the Emeryville Marina. The larger fish was 35 1/2 inches in length and 17 1/2 pounds.

When I first got into this pier fishing thing, I was excluding boat trips from my record-keeping ("the dark side") because of the fundamental differences. I felt like boat fishing was "too easy mode" because the skipper takes you to their spots. But eventually I just added another data field to my spreadsheet (Environment: pier, shore, or boat).

Those are some nice stripers!

I've kept them all over the years.
